100 Ways to Crack an Egg

According to legend (a.k.a. wikipedia), the folds in a chef’s hat used to represent the number of ways s/he knew how to cook an egg, with the vaunted 100-fold hat reserved for the heads of only the most knowledgeable culinary experts. But are there really 100 ways to prepare eggs? ES set out on an exploration across the food blogosphere to find out, and our answer is a decidedly delicious “yes.”

We’re reporting back and presenting our 100 favorite ways to cook an egg. If you’ve ever looked in the fridge and said, “I’ve got tons of eggs, but no idea what to cook with them,” well, you have no excuse to ever do that again. Just come right back here. Or better yet, print this out and hang it in your kitchen.

    I didn’t see my favourite egg dish on there – it doesn’t have a name, it’s just what we do with leftover curry sauce, like when we make rogan josh and pick all the lamb out :) It’s basically the same as “Eggs in Purgatory” but with curry sauce instead of tomato sauce, and served on rice. It’s great for dinner, but it’s about the best “morning after” breakfast out there.

    When you put your mind to it anything is possible. It was fascinating to see 100 different dishes with eggs. But I’m sure if experimented with, even 200 is are possible.

    I suggest the 1001th.Mix 3 eggs w/ regular size corned beef and bake it. I called it beefy corned egg pizza.Try!No harm done.Enjoy.

    So, yeah, great and all….but technically those aren’t 100 different ways to COOK an egg…. just 100 different recipes revolving around fried, boiled, and baked eggs. I’m tragically disappointed.

    Those recipes are just ones that include egg, not made purely out of eggs as supposed by the myth. Shame on you for wasting my time.

    The tea egg looks interesting. I had an israeli friend who’s father used to make coffee eggs. Sounds gross I know but it was delicious (be boiled eggs in coffee, threw in tons of spice and then let the eggs soak in the coffee brew for a few days). The result was a delicious creamy caramelized eggy treat. I’ll see if I can track down the recipe.
