Pumpkins, Your Reign Is Over

Here at ES, we like to do things a little differently.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but you at least have to give us points for trying.  So when someone questioned the pumpkin’s dominance as the Halloween carving medium, I saw a potential avenue for exploration.  And let me tell you, now that I’ve been down that road, I may never go back.  Carving a pepper was faster, easier and way less mess than a pumpkin.  Heck, I did most of it while waiting in the car for a friend.

#OccupyHollywood: Let’s Turn on Foodie Celebs

Looks like the #Occupy gang recently turned on celebs in the well-titled #OccupyHollywood. Of course, the oft-mocked Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t escape the ire of protesters, er, eh, bloggers. But seriously, if you could afford to put a wood-burning oven in your backyard, wouldn’t you? Could you imagine those awesome dinner parties with intensely smoked veggies and fish and meats and entire cakes made out of s’mores?!

That means now is as good a time as any to drown your sorrows. If your team is on the upswing, celebrate away. If not, feel free to try some  all of these tasty libations, which make “drinking a cold one” much more exciting for any football foodie.  They’ll make sure you and your guests have a great time no matter what the score is.

1. New Orleans Style Michelada from A Mountain of Crushed Ice

Salty, savory and with just enough kick, this michelada with Peychaud bitters definitely lives up to its Bayou heritage.

 2. The Glazed Doughnut from Sips and Shots

The only thing we can say about this is, why the hell didn’t we think of it first?
