The Crabcake Primaries

No, this is not a drill. We have an actual vote that matters. For our Potomac/ Chesapeake/ Crabcake readers out there, the Republican and Democratic primaries have moved into the area. So from the ES “staff” to our beloved hordes of fans (read: baker’s dozen), go out there and touch that screen! (Doesn’t really have the same linguistic impact as pull that lever does it?)

**Major celebrity sighting this morning at the Dunkin’ Donuts on 8th Street SE, as an intrepid ES fan saw Barack H. Obama himself ordering his own coffee! Trying to expand his base maybe?

Of course being the fan he is, this person decided that taking a picture was optional. Wrong move buddy!

We at ES don’t care who you vote for, but just make sure you do.

Personally, I would like to restate my advice to keep your coffee black this primary day, if you know what I mean.

***…go out there and touch that screen!

Actually for me it would have to be, “Go out there and complete the broken arrow of your choice with a #2 pencil!”

BS – you did not just say that!

coffee black? wait I missed something I thought the kenyan roast came with a hefty dose of kansas dairy cow milk. Oh that sounds wrong
I have a lot of friends drinking steamed vanilla milk this morning…. and a lot of friends sipping cafe au lait. Me? I’m DC Statehood party and I don’t get to participate in democracy today 🙁 Closed primaries blow…. As does taxation without legislative representation. 🙁

Aww, I work so close to 8th St– I definitely would’ve run over there to see him. I too was wondering if he deliberately chose the Dunkin Donuts for political reasons, especially since there’s a Starbucks directly across from it on the other side of the street. Choosing the Dunkin Donuts implies you’re more down to earth (and have better taste in coffee).

I was the attempted bagel buyer this morning who spotted our next president with our current Mayor…Obama Runs on Dunkin….

    and…
my friend just made the point that if obama was on 8th st SE he was on Barack’s Row.

    truly awful.

i’m still undecided. who knew that a candidate’s choice in coffee could swing an election.

  • BS February 12, 2008

come on, gansie! He’s even drinking DD for you – if this doesn’t sway your vote, what can?

  • Britannia February 12, 2008

Jakesg… I still believe it is yet to be determined if he is to be our (your) next president, I’m just saying !!

I’m not racist or anything, but I grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of doughnuts. They’re really lazy. One time they borrowed my Dad’s hand-saw and never brought it back.

If only BO could provide an in depth plan for a health care program that would encompass the poor workers at DD who, most likely, don’t have health insurance.

    just sayin….

Thank goodness I’m a registered Republican in the District.

Not only was my choice MUCH easier, the fact that I am outnumbered 8 to 1 takes all the pressure off – even if I mess up, it’s not like it matters.

  • BS February 12, 2008

For the record, Mariah: B.O.’s health insurance plan would cover DD workers, he just wouldn’t force people to buy health insurance, a la HRC’s semi-communist proposal, which would likely turn every donut shop into a borscht restaurant.

Jesus people, could we please keep the comments section sub-intellectual!?!?

Wait, BS, I couldn’t register what you wrote because it didn’t include the words “HOPE!” or “CHANGE!”….both necessary words when explaining all things BO.

And, for the record, i don’t fight with Dems.

    xoxo

LOL…fair enough, we should get back to things food related anyway.

    ps YES WE CAN

  • Britannia February 12, 2008

Maybe the conversion of donut shops to borscht restaurants isn’t a bad idea… We are after all talking about health care.

  • MonkeyBoy February 12, 2008

Don’t you all know that coffee originated in Yemen… which is a MUSLIM country!!!!

  • Tim February 13, 2008

Oh my God, did you guys hear about the landslide in Barack? My co-worker just told me about it.

    Those poor Obamans.

  • BS February 13, 2008

Donna Brazile actually said on CNN last night that Barack has moved on from the Starbucks Dems to the DD Dems…let the coffee analogies live on.
