When I was home in Jersey a few weekends back, 80P and I went to the bar with SAG, his girlfriend, Morgasm, and my newly 21 year old sister, Sherry. I’d be lying if I said this was the first time we all hit the bars together, but as this was legally the inaugural drinkfest, shots were clearly in order.

My go-to, don’t have to think about it shot is the classic, SoCo and Lime. (Although it was funny one time when the bartender gave me an entire glass of SoCo with just a wedge of lime on the side. Not exactly the normal shooter.) Well, its reign is over and I’m spreading the gospel, there’s a new shot in town.

Jack and Peach Schnapps

I’m not sure if my brother or his girlfriend made it up, but what was once their “summer shot” has turned into a year round obsession. Now it may sound weird, and yes, I know you haven’t tasted peach schnapps since 7th grade, but it really does work.

Reasons For Jack and Peach Schnapps:

1) It’s all alcohol. Sure, Sex on the Beach is delicious, but it’s mostly juice. No need to pay the high premium for a shot that will only load you up on sugar and taste like candy.

2) It’s different alcohols. I’m not a huge whiskey fan, and especially not taken straight in shot-form. But with the strong Jack being cut by the sweeter, yet still alcoholic, peach schnapps, this shot doesn’t leave you with that automatic puke feeling.

3) It’s trend setting. Of course I can’t claim that my brother/his GF created this delicious concoction, but I can surely tell you that every time I ask for it the bartender/server/fellow bar-goers shoot me a look of – WHAT?!?! To me that means that this is fairly original and seldom requested drink order. Now, it’s not easy being a trend setter, but the results can be well worth it.

And if your bartender gives you shit, tell ‘em Endless Simmer sent ya.
