Wish List 2011: Huge Fucking Cheese Slicer

Posted by on December 23 2011 in Cheese, Food Travel

When I stayed in Copenhagen earlier this year, the hotel breakfast spread fucking rocked.

Soft boiled eggs (with adorable holders and spoons), 5 different dark, seed-crusted breads, cereals, granolas, 3 different types of yogurt-ish products (samoa, soured milk) DIY fresh-squeezed Рand ultra pulpy РOJ and sliced (fancy!) meats.

But most of all, I couldn’t get enough of the cheese. It wasn’t just slices, or a wedge or shreds.

But cheese hooked into this almost torture-looking device that easily slices cheese fresh from the block. I had just as much fun using the contraption as trying the various types of wonderful cheeses available. So, someone either fly me back to Copenhagen’s¬†Scandic Palace Hotel or find me one of these machines.

that seems a lot harder to store than one of those sling-shot-with-a-wire cheese cutting doohicks. part of the joy of cutting cheese is valiantly TRYING with all your might to cut the thinnest, most even piece of cheese you can, only to end up leaving the block mangled and uneven.

    or maybe that’s just me.

i asked Santa for a crock pot, a three tray sprouter and seeds/beans, “Wild Fermentation” and the Food in Jars cookbook preorder (so excited! it’ll be like a random Xmas present in May!). also, a trapeze class.

i did not have a shandy just now. merra holidays you guys!!
