I did find a place in Tampa that ships in rolls from amaroso for their cheessteaks and they also get in the "real" tastykakes fresh from Philly. It's worth the trip if you are really "jonesin" Its called "philly flava"

I grew up in the tri-state area and tastykakes are so good because they are FRESH, meaning that they are replaced every couple days! the ones we get here in Florida are “family packs” and they are NOT the same. they will do in a “pinch’. Since they've been bought, I don't think that's the case anymore. Still, they are a tradition - and reasonably priced. By the way, you should've shared at least one pie. :)

The reason that Tastykakes were so good (and specific to the tri-state region/Delaware Valley) is that they used to lack or have very little preservatives in them (giving them a short shelf life).
