Great photos and coverage of the Throwdown. I really the Throwown shows and think Flay comes off as a really nice guy who is a good sport.
GM’s reminds me of a neighborhood gastropub in Philadelphia’s Mayfair neighborhood, called The Grey Lodge Pub.
I’m a big fan of your website too. Lots of great coverage.

He looks constipated. I detest Flay almost as much as I detest Batali, perhaps more. This show is truly the “Haha I’m a dick and FN gave me a show just to prove it, nay beat you in the head with it”. Especially when he goes into people’s homes to compete? Infuriating.

Flay’s fries were really just there. Golden, yes. Crisp, yes. Flavorful…not really. I couldn’t in good conscience call them frites when put up against the offerings from Granville Moore’s, Brasserie Beck, or even Bistrot du Coin. The best comparison I could think of are the beautiful but dull fries you get from mass production.

Those pictures were all candids, so any looks on any faces are of-the-moment. There were quite a few times when Flay was smiling and being very friendly with the audience, so I don’t think that’s a permanent look for him. And, for the record, that look on Teddy Folkman’s face is the initial stage of a RaRay-esque rapture upon tasting Flay’s preparations.
